Binary Solution, an LSAT prep program, seeks to increase the number of exceptionally qualified students of color applying to and entering law school through an intensive deconstruction of the LSAT exam. The Center for Multicultural Education and Programs partners with Binary Solution in awarding scholarships for this course for NYU students in financial need.

Binary Solution is a unique system for solving the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) that is simple enough to be mastered by anyone and powerful enough to raise scores by an average of 12 points. Their 100-hour course has been designed to produce LSAT scores in the 160 to 180 range. The exclusive binary method is based on a logical deconstruction of the LSAT--a process that reduces the exam to its smallest quanta of information.
Since 1991, Binary has been mapping and identifying every issue that has appeared on every LSAT. Their theoretical lens encourages students to view each LSAT question as a weighted sum of issues. Since this approach is granular, students are prepared for any juxtaposition of issues that may appear on the LSAT. At times when the LSAT shifts, Binary students are prepared for the change because both typical and boundary cases are addressed during the course of study.
The Center for Multicultural Education and Programs and Binary Solution began it relations in 1997 to increase the number of diverse applicants who score in the top percentiles of the LSAT. We offer a scholarship that is intended to encourage access to effective preparation for the entire NYU community, but is not based on any specific criteria, such as ethnic background, because we believe that any solution to problems caused by difference are best solved by de-emphasizing differences. Binary Solution’s goal is to take the Affirmative Action dialogue in a new direction, where access is the central issue. The scholarship are available for all students that complete the application.
